Join the NFEC, your neighbors and elected officials salute this year’s recipients of the NFEC’s annual Environmentalist Award on Thursday, July 9 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM at the Mattituck Park District’s Veterans Park Community Room at 11280 Peconic Bay Blvd., Mattituck

This year, the NFEC will be presenting its Richard Noncarrow Environmentalist of the Year Award to Mel Morris for his many years and many roles in getting regional youth interested and involved in local environmental issues and research. Mel, a resident of Mattituck, serves as Manager, Special Projects for the Office of Educational Programs at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) in Upton. The Office of Educational Programs’ GREEn Institute — Gaining Research Experience in the Environment – was created to promote teaching, learning and research in all aspects of the environment for students from kindergarten through graduate school and through Mel’s hard work, thousands of school-aged children and young adults doing getting hands on environmental studies in Suffolk County.

Tickets are priced at $35 per single ticket or $30/ticket for multiple ticket purchases for all advance sales through the NFEC or click on this link EventBrite to get to EventBrite for secure, online sales.  There will be a $5 surcharge for all tickets purchased at the door.
