Regeneration

Regeneration is the process of regenerating-renewing or restoring something, especially after it has been damaged or lost.

Nature and humanity are composed of exquisitely complex networks of relationships, without which forests, lands, oceans, peoples, countries, and cultures perish
— Regeneration: Ending the Climate Crisis in One Generation, Paul Hawken

Humanity, forgetting it’s just one thread of millions in this web, dominated the network and caused the imbalances we are seeing in ecological, social and economic systems. But Nature/We are resilient and can heal. Quoting Paul Hawken again:

“Regeneration is not only about bringing the world back to life; it is about bringing each of us back to life. …it involves imagination and creativity. It is inclusive, engaging and generous. And everyone can do it. It restores forests, lands, farms and oceans. It transforms cities, builds green affordable housing, reverses soil erosion. rejuvenates degraded lands, and powers rural communities.”

“What is Regeneration?”

How is NFEC implementing this concept?

We advocate for this systems approach to change, by educating the minds, inspiring the hearts, and getting hands in action, through our talks and webinars.

We also integrate as many parts of networks as we can when we set up any program:, for example: holding native plant sales for homeowners, to support the local ecosystem of insects and birds; implementing a pilot project “food scraps to compost” to enrich our soils at the Cornell University farm.; reducing excess consumption of “stuff” and teaching fix-it skills by holding Repair Cafes; working with Save the Sound by doing water quality testing at local LI Sound sites.
