International Coastal Cleanup Day
Join us at Reeves Park Beach, on the end of Park Road in Riverhead 9-11am or Breakwater Beach in Mattituck 1-3pm.
Please bring gloves and a bucket. We will also have gloves and bags available.
We clean the beach because:
Protects wildlife – Animals like turtles, birds, and fish can mistake trash for food or get tangled in it. Cleaning up helps keep them safe.
Keeps water healthy – Trash and chemicals on beaches can wash into the ocean, harming sea life and even people who swim there.
Prevents pollution – Plastics and other waste break down very slowly, so removing them keeps the environment cleaner for a long time.
Helps people enjoy beaches – Clean beaches are more fun, safe, and beautiful for everyone to visit.
Sets a good example – When people see others caring for nature, it encourages them to do the same

We are delighted to present NFEC’s August panel: Organic and Beyond-Farming for the Future of the North Fork. Russ McCall will be our gracious host, providing specialty cheeses and localas-local-gets wine for this event. As the winery closes to the public at 6:00, our after-hours session will offer special pricing for our guests.
Who: We’re personally encouraged to know our three panelists: Russ McCall, Louisa Hargrave and Ira Haspel, because it gives us the comfort and hope in knowing that our North Fork is the home of long term farming methods which require little or no chemical inputs. This is true sustainability which comes from intentional stewardship and which can be replicated on every piece of land in the Peconic Bioregion.
Please register with Dawn, our trusty admin, at 631-298-8880, or email her at office@nfec1.org to reserve your place to this important discussion.
